Some people make a lucrative living selling on eBay. Many look at eBay as merely a hobby where a community of people meet to buy and sell, but from personal experience, processing over $40,000.00 USD in transactions every single month is much more than just a hobby.
Some people often wonder how it is that some eBay sellers make it and some fail before they can get 50 sales under their belt. Well the answer is quite simple, treat your eBay business as you would any other business. Just because you’re selling on eBay does not mean that you should slack when it comes to customer service, or especially developing your ad’s.
One of the single most determining factors of driving traffic to your eBay listings are properly manipulating your title (within eBay terms and conditions) to attract a realm of diverse potential clients. Clients that may not have been anticipating stumbling upon your ad.
I personally deal in a highly saturated market (Consumer Electronics). With a vast amount of competition, perfecting your ad’s title is crucial. Some people spend tons of extra money on using subtitles, bolding their listing in search results, or even using the featured ad tool. Properly manipulating your ad’s title will eliminate the need for all of this excess cost. Not only will you be attracting more quality visitors to your ad, but you will be cutting down on major costs, which could potentially add up to thousands in a year, or even a quarter.
So, with so many different products to sell, where do you even start to think of how to properly word your listings?
1). Research exactly what it is your selling. Let’s say you’re selling laptop computers. Go to the Google keyword tool (just Google, "Google Keyword Tool") and search the phrase "laptop computer", or whatever it is you’re selling for that matter. Find out which words place highest in the search results. These are very accurate statistics accumulated through Google over time and can help you substantially when it comes to naming your ad. Use this to your advantage when it comes time to name your ad. Instead of putting a title like "Laptop Computer For Sale. Great Value", use highly targeted keywords that people are going to actually search on eBay, such as "DELL INSPIRON 1525 LAPTOP COMPUTER. DUO CORE, 2GB RAM, VISTA + MORE!", this title will more than likely result in over 5 times that of the first title. I always like to use capitalized letters and leave a teaser at the end as well to spark attention. Leaving something like "+More" at the end of your title creates curiosity and lures people to see exactly what it is they may receive as an incentive, or freebie. It could be something small. Fact of the matter is, the more people that view your ad’s, the higher your item will get bided up, or the more Buy It Now sales you’ll complete. Using caps automatically makes your listing stand out over others without spending a dime.
2). Find out who your competition is and what they’re offering and for what price. eBay is very highly saturated and competitive pricing will make or break you. Offer something as a freebie, people love to think they’re receiving a better value than they anticipated. Like I said in point #1, include a teaser in your title. Something like "+ More", or "Free Accessories" spike instant interest and lure people to click on your ad.
3). Use a simple photo editing application, even Microsoft Paint will work for this. Edit the image to have a fluorescent background. I like to use lime green, or red as it catches the eye instantly. Make sure the actual product is still visible within the photo, but have a very strong background/border to catch people’s eye.
Over the years I have found these methods to be extremely helpful in boosting hits to my listings and conversions/final auction values will inevitably increase as a result. eBay is truly a game of testing what works best for the product your selling. You may never perfect your listings, but you can always improve them and see instant results.

Although PayPal does offer several preventative measures to help protect you from fraudulent transactions, the risks of using PayPal as your merchant are still apparent. PayPal is currently offered to 190 Countries and 18 currencies. Due to the fact that the only Countries currently eligible for a confirmed (seller/buyer protected by the PayPal policy) PayPal shipping address are Canada, USA and the UK, this in itself leaves the doors wide open to scam artists.
It truly doesn’t matter what niche you’ve chosen, developing a properly marketed website will play a major role in sales success and converting on lookers in to potential buyers.
I had previously written a couple of articles designated towards, or relating to making money with affiliate marketing programs. Yesterday I had an email from a reader who had never had any experience with affiliate marketing programs in the past and wanted to learn the basics and not so much the marketing tactics involved with affiliate programs. I’m going to be very to the point in this post to help you out in as little amount of time as possible.
As human beings we possess several emotions and thoughts that could be affecting very negatively on our chances of business success. As certain emotions are completely normal, it is sometimes necessary to reprogram your thought process in a sense, to coincide with our business aspirations. Many tend to worry about too many of the small things, whether it’s financial hardship, the risks involved with dropping everything to create a business, or the way others will perceive their business initiatives. Worry can be the single most determining factor of the decision to withhold from a business opportunity and can also be the largest mistake of your life. On the contrary, it is extremely important to ensure you’ve obtained the proper knowledge of the field you’re planning on indulging in.
Building a sold email list can be just as important to driving traffic to your website in the first place. A very low percentage of your targeted traffic will actually continue to make a purchase with your affiliate, or sponsor programs in the initial stages. This is why it’s essential to be effectively collecting as many opt in email addresses as you can. When I say “opt in”, I mean the people who are willing to give up their email address to keep up to date with the valuable content you’re providing on a consistent basis. Don’t look to purchase bulk email lists that will promise a large list of targeted niche traffic that will all funnel in to sales, as this is not only spamming, but poor business conduct. Email addresses should only be collected from readers who are willing to submit it and you should never release that email address to anyone else, for any reason.
A consistent amount of website traffic is the key to any marketing initiative you may have online. Paying big bucks for PPC (Pay per Click) has deterred most people from creating a website, let a lone attempting to bid for clicks on major search engines and when/if they do, get discouraged quite quickly if they’re not yielding a good enough return on investment by converting hits in to sales.
